Coronation Street’s Billy ‘to find love again’ after Paul and it’s with unexpected resident

Coronation Street’s Billy Mayhew, played by Daniel Brocklebank, could be on the brink of a new love story, fans speculate.

The beloved character first graced the cobbles in 2014 and has since become a firm favourite, tackling a range of intense storylines from murder to drug addiction.

In addition to his dramatic narratives, Billy has had a string of romantic partners on the show, including Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) and his late husband Paul Foreman (Peter Ash).

However, last year saw Billy devastated by the loss of his husband Paul, who was diagnosed with MND (motor neurone disease) in 2023. Tragically, as time passed, his speech and mobility worsened, leading to his heartbreaking death in September.

Since then, Billy has maintained a low profile but has recently been seen more frequently on screen due to Todd’s latest storyline involving Theo (James Cartwright).

Fans will remember that Todd and Theo began a romance earlier this year. However, it was later revealed that Theo was married to Danielle (Natalie Anderson) and they have two children together, reports Leicestershire Live.

The truth came out, leaving Danielle distraught. Nevertheless, Theo ended things with Todd, warning him to keep his distance before returning to his wife.

In Monday’s episode (May 5), a drunken Theo found himself in a heated altercation with thug Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton), but fortunately, Billy intervened, defusing the situation and escorting Theo to the safety of the cafe.

Fans have predicted a Theo and Billy romance

There, Theo shared a heart-wrenching revelation with Billy and Todd, recounting his experiences growing up in a devoutly religious family and being subjected to conversion therapy as a young person.

Despite the poignant twist, fans are speculating about the potential for a romantic connection between Billy and Theo. On a Coronation Street fan page, one enthusiast wrote: “I’m glad we’re seeing more of Billy, I think he and Theo would be a good couple!”.

Another fan concurred, saying: “Yeah Billy would be really understanding and could help him.” A third fan chimed in, expressing their enthusiasm for the potential pairing: “I would love this!”

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
