Coronation Street fans have been left surprised after hearing Joe Layton’s voice when he isn’t in character.
The actor, who plays Mick Michaelis in the show, featured in a social media video recently alongside Farrel Hegarty and Jacob Roberts, as well as the stars from the show’s flashback episode.
The cast members took part in a quiz that saw them attempt to identify iconic items from 2007. Due to the fact they weren’t in character, it allowed many fans of the ITV soap to hear the star’s real accents for the first time, and it was Joe Layton’s that caused the most shock
The Northern accent Mick has when he’s causing trouble in Weatherfield appears to be emphasised quite a bit by Joe, as he sounds ‘posh’ in the video, according to a lot of users of X.

‘Mick is so posh! Perhaps he should of been played with that voice!’, one fan said.
Another noted: ‘Mick sounds completely different’, while this fan highlighted the contrast between Joe and Mick, writing: ‘Love it. Can’t stand Mick! But Joe Layton seemed alright, guess that means he’s doing a good job as an actor.’
