ITV Coronation Street star to leave soap after betrayal plot twist

Coronation Street’s Bobby Crawford, played by Jack Carroll, is set to bid farewell to Weatherfield following a shocking accusation that leaves him reeling.

The young lad confided in Carla Connor about his plans to fly off to Majorca for a birthday bash with Simon Barlow.

However, fans know that the holiday is merely a cover-up for a deeper sorrow – Bobby has secretly cut ties with a close mate before departing the cobbles.

Bobby was left distraught when Lauren Bolton voiced her suspicion that he had been extorting her. Lauren had been receiving numerous menacing messages after someone witnessed her nicking and crashing Tracy Barlow’s van.

Unbeknown to Bobby, who had kindly given her £500 to help her out, she had suspected him all along, reports Leicestershire Live.

Even though Lauren admitted she used the cash for a flat deposit rather than as hush money, it was her lack of faith in Bobby that wounded him the most.

A heartbroken Bobby couldn’t comprehend why Lauren would ever suspect him of such underhanded behaviour. Overcome by the allegation, he brushed off her apology and made a beeline for the airport, asking Carla for some cash and time off to escape the chaos.

In a cutting final comment, he told Lauren they should stay strangers from now on, leaving her stunned. Is this the end of their friendship, or could a bit of distance help repair their bond?

Bobby’s sudden decision to depart the Street for a brief respite in Spain has left Carla utterly stunned, just as he was busy packing his bags for the getaway. Jack, who shot to fame on Britain’s Got Talent at 14, is the latest addition to the Coronation Street ensemble, having joined the cast in 2023.

Now 26, the comedian made his debut on the iconic soap shortly after Christmas, stepping into the role of Bobby – Carla Connor’s nephew.

As Bobby’s character made his entrance, ITV hinted that he would certainly “run rings round Auntie Carla”, with Alison King playing the part to perfection.

Jack, filled with excitement about his new role, shared that he was “delighted and honoured” to join the cherished Manchester-based soap, which he views as “a cultural institution”.

The Bradford-born actor, who lives with cerebral palsy, isn’t new to the acting world – he’s previously starred in and led Mobility, a BBC Three short focussing on the day-to-day journey of three disabled teenagers on their school bus.

In conversation with BBC Newsbeat, Jack voiced his hope that his appearance on the show could lead to a positive change in how disabilities are represented on television.
